Job quote calculator for trades
Guessing a total on site is how money gets left on the table. Enter call-out, hours, rate, materials, and tax — get a clean line breakdown and total in seconds.
How the quote total is built
Step 1: Labour = labour hours × hourly rate. Step 2: Subtotal = call-out fee + labour + materials. Step 3: Tax amount = subtotal × (tax % ÷ 100), or $0 if tax is 0. Step 4: Total = subtotal + tax. Intermediate math keeps full precision; display rounds to cents.
Example: HVAC call-out
An HVAC tech charges a $95 call-out, expects 2.5 hours at $120/hr, and $180 in parts, with 10% tax. Subtotal is $95 + $300 + $180 = $575; tax $57.50; total $632.50 — clear enough to text the customer before starting work.
Frequently asked questions
Should call-out fee include the first hour of labour?
Either model works — just stay consistent. If your call-out already covers the first hour, set labour hours to only the extra time.
Do I mark up materials?
Many trades add 10–30% for handling and warranty risk. Enter the price the customer will pay for materials, not your cost alone.
How do I handle tax if I am not GST/VAT registered?
Leave tax at 0%. When you register later, add the correct rate and the total updates.
Can I send this quote from Servicebay?
Yes. Start free, recreate the line items in a branded quote, and send it for e-signature or acceptance.
Is there a signup wall?
