Create and send a quote

A quote gives your customer a priced estimate to approve before you start the work. Quotes and invoices share the same Line Items, so anything you've already added to a job carries straight over.

  1. Start a new quote

From a job, open the Line Items card and tap Create Quote. You can also start one from a customer's profile: open their Quotes tab and tap New Quote.

  2. Select the customer

If a customer isn't already attached, tap Select Customer and choose one from your customer list. A quote can't be created without a customer.

  3. Add your line items

Add the services and inventory items you're quoting for using the Service and Inventory Item buttons on the Line Items card. Servicebay totals the subtotal, tax and total automatically as you add them.

  4. Set the title and message

Enter a Title for the quote. The Message field is pre-filled from your default quote message if you've set one up, and you can edit it for this quote only.

  5. Set payment due and expiration

Choose when payment is due (Upon invoice, or 7 Days, 14 Days, 30 Days) and how long the quote stays open under Expires: pick a preset, a custom number of days, or Never expires.

  6. Save the quote

Tap Save to create the quote. It's now saved and ready to send.

  7. Send it to the customer

Open the quote and tap Send to email it. See "Share a quote or invoice securely with a customer" for what the customer sees and how the link works.

  8. Tips

A quote's status (Pending, Accepted, Invoiced, or Expired) shows as a badge on the quote and updates automatically as it moves through its lifecycle.
