Fix missing or delayed notifications

Servicebay notifies you about four types of activity: invoice payments, quote acceptances, quote or invoice views, and mentions. If notifications aren't showing up, work through these checks.

  1. Check your notification preferences in Servicebay

Go to Settings and open the Notifications tile to see your Notification Preferences. Confirm the toggle is on for the type you're missing: Invoice payments, Quote accepted, Quote or invoice viewed, or Mentions.

  2. Ask your admin if a setting is locked

If a toggle shows "Managed by your admin," an organisation admin has locked that notification type and you can't change it yourself. Ask them to update it for you.

  3. Check your device's notification permission

Servicebay asks for notification permission the first time you sign in. If you declined, or later turned notifications off, there's no switch inside Servicebay to turn it back on. You'll need to enable notifications for Servicebay in your device's system settings (iOS: Settings > Servicebay > Notifications; Android: Settings > Apps > Servicebay > Notifications).

  4. Look in the in-app notification bell

Even if a push notification didn't arrive, the event may still be waiting for you in-app. Tap the bell icon in the top bar to open your notification panel and check whether it's there.

  5. Check your connection

Notifications need an internet connection to arrive. If your device was offline or had no signal when the event happened, expect a delay until you're back online.

  6. Clear out old notifications

A cluttered panel can make it hard to spot new activity. Use Mark all as read or Clear all to start fresh, then check whether new events show up correctly.

  7. Still not working?

If the setting is on, permission is granted, and you're connected, try signing out and back in or updating the app, then contact Servicebay support.
